we are now all
self-promoters
trillions of trilling shouts
hoping for a moment of attention
before dying out in the next roar
of the billion millions
no longer restrained
by the gatekeepers
we have run amok
in the greatest free-form
distribution experiment
known to mankind
as the vast melting pot
comes to a boil
we’ll have to wait and see
what rises to the top
(D. James)
Ah…but in whose hand is the ladle? Just a random thought engendered by you poem.
Good question – I like that line of thinking
this is one of the main reasons it doesn’t matter that everyone has access to nice film equipment and other artistic media. everyone can make videos, so the criteria actually becomes who is creating quality work, rather than who has the most money… we hope.
Hey Morgan! my question is will the quality work be able to push through the noise of the monied marketing? Thanks for commenting
i think crowdsourcing is a phenomenon ensuring that the really “good” stuff can and does make it.
Good point
